Setting up my laptop so I thought I would write a few words. Busy getting ready for Christmas not like I can do that much but will trya few things. Have the tree up but It will only have lights this year. We are also getting ready for Mexico, we will be leaving on Dec. 28th. The doctors gave us the okay so that feels good.
We got over a foot of snow last night so it will be hard to get out. I guess that is all for now.
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year.

Well it has been a long time but I have a reason. On Aug. l3th I got severe pain in my back and had to go by ambulance to Regina. I can't remember to much until Aug. l8th when I went for 9 hours of surgery. I spent two weeks in Regina hospital and two weeks in Kamsack hospital. I am still using a walker, but the doctor said I am healing good this time so I guess it is just a matter of time until I get to a cane hopefully. I am feeling okay but am not liking the cooler wealther so I know I will not like the snow. If everything goes well we will be going to Mexico as usual. My weeks are filled with going to the hospital on Mon. and Thurs. for blood tests and to Regina for doctors appointments. I still have a pik line in which Allan has administer medication every 36 hours, hopefully it will be over next week.

Sunday, August 12, 2007

I haven't written for a while so I thought I wouldget you up dated.
I am going to Regina on tuesday for my gallium test, should know after that about surgery.
We had hail last week that almost wiped us out. Ther are no more flowers an garden.. The crops are bad but they still have to combine.

Time for some different news than my medical problems.
Last weekend I had my 65th birthday and had a wonderful time. My two daughters and their families made my day special. We went to Kelly's for drinks and watch the kids play. Then they took us (Allan's birthday is next month) out for supper to the Northern Lights which is a very nice resteraunt over looking a valley. Then back to Kelly's for a homemade carrot cake (made by Kelly. The girls gave me a beautiful necklace with my birthstone.
Scott and Jodi picked Saskatoon's and Raspberries for me which ment alot.
I managed to make a huge pot of borscht which Ry and Avery love, needless to say they were only able to take one jar home.
THANK YOU GIRLS.
On Sunday my brothers and sister came over in the afternoon with drinks and supper. What a surprise and a wonderful afternoon.
Thank you for the cards. gifts and food.
That to me was the best birthday ever.

Back to my boring life. Saw doctors last week. Again I was the big discussion at a conference. One doctor said he would to nothing more for me but my doctor and another said no, they would like to operate again using my bone for bone grafting put in a couple of screws and if my body does not reject my bone they would then take out the screws. They don't know how much nerve repair they can do for my legs but time will tell. I can take two more surgeries as long as there is some good outcome. I would be happ[y to get rid of this brace and be able to walk with a cane.
On a happier note the weather is warm, haying is going full speed and the saskatoons are hanging on the trees. Now did I say a happier note, maybe not. It is hard to find people to pick they just want to buy them already in the pails.

Thursday, July 5, 2007

Update. I had another blood test yesterday and my blood was up 12 points, so no transfusion. Someone made a mistake as your blood count could not go up that much in 4 days.

Wednesday, July 4, 2007

I haven't blogged for a while so here is an update. I went to the doctor in Regina almost two weeks ago, had some fluid taken from my back and had a ct scan. I don't have any results.
We shopped for a new sofa for two days and finally found one that will work. The only problem is that we will not get it until the end of August. We also bought an upright freezer as I will never be able to bend over in the chest ones.
Well back to my medical problems. Had a call from my family doctor and my blood is low so I guess I have to have another blood transfussion tomorrow. There never seems to be an end to this. I have no idea when I will have my next surgery with this stupid strike that is going to put everything behind.
Well enough of all my troubles, hope everyone is having a great summer. I don't get outside very often so am not able to enjoy the sun.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Nothing much new around here. I fell again last Thursday and broke my foot, so a little hard to walk and now my arthritis has gotten worse since they took my off one drug. I think my like really sucks. Nothing is moving fast enough for me. Waiting to hear from my doctor seems like it is taking forever. On a happier note the sun is shinning but I can't get outside.

Wednesday, June 6, 2007

It has been a while so I thought I would update on my ongoing medical condition. Had been to Regina about a week ago and things are not too bad. Have to go for a ct scan and get some fluid drained off my back in the next couple of weeks. I am no taking my worst pills at night so I am not throwing up during the day and finally feel like living, except for the other end.
On a good note Allan's sister Linda and her husband Greg came out on the weekend and completely cleaned my kitchen, brought food, planted my flowers and the garden. The best part was having someone here to talk to, i tgets pretty lonely all day by myself. Thank god I have Kelly to talk to and Jodi's blog to help my through the days.
Well enough complaining, how about some comments.

Monday, May 14, 2007

Went to the doctor on Friday, everything seems to be coming along well. I have another appointment on May 28th. My potasium level was high so am taking more medication and it is finally starting to come down, will know more when I go for a blood test on Thursday.
Had a nice Mothers Day. Fred, Kelly and Josh came out in the morning, I slept in my chair all afternoon and then we went to Murray and Lee's for supper. My only problem is I have no desire to eat and when I do it is a small amount. Hopefully I will loose weight through all this.

Tuesday, May 8, 2007

I am feeling stronger everyday, except my potasium is high so more medication. I am trying to do a fee things around the housebut get tired veryfast- no muscles.
The weather is beautiful today but I can't get out to enjoy it.We are off to Regina on Friday to see my doctor and to pick up our new bed.
The guys are busy seeding so things are busy here.

Thursday, May 3, 2007

I have bveen home for almost one week and seem to be doing okay. I am on so much medication that I just want to sleep. Had the staples out yesterday so it will not be long before I can have a shower.
I can't see straight so I will post more later.

Thursday, April 19, 2007

Mom made it through the surgery fine. She will hopefully talk to the doctor today and find out how it went.

Monday, April 16, 2007

Surgery #7...

... on Wednesday. To hopefully resolve the infection. Will keep you posted.

Thursday, April 12, 2007

Mom is still in the Regina hospital. She was hoping to get home yesterday but the pain was just too much. It'll be at least a couple more days before the doctor would consider letting her go home.

Monday, April 9, 2007

It's Jodi again. Mom is still in the hospital. Now she has company because Kelly is in the hospital as well. Kelly is experiencing some facial paralysis which may or may not be Bell's Palsy. She is waiting for an MRI which could happen this week or next.

Mom is hoping to be transfered to the Kamsack hospital this week. She's still on a lot of meds to deal with the leg spasms and pain. But they've reduced the meds a bit so she's feeling more "with it".

Her phone number remains the same, if you want to call.

Tuesday, April 3, 2007

It's Jodi again: Update. Mom is still in the hospital. She is looking at 6 months of antibiotic treatment because there was infection in her back. She had a PIC put in today and she actually slept through the procedure.

Mom hasn't started therapy yet. She still has a lot of pain in her upper legs... even though she's on tons of medication.

During her surgery, the Dr. took out all the hardware in her back. He thought maybe her body was rejecting the metal. As a result, she will be wearing a brace, morning til night for 6 months. He is hoping that will heal her.

Thursday, March 29, 2007

Hi, It's Jodi. Mom is in the hospital. She's having back surgery (AGAIN) today. Her doctor is sure that there is infection in there and that her body is not accepting the metal that he put in there before. I don't believe she is having the surgery til later today, so you can call her if you want: 766-8120.

She seems in okay spirits, considering... She's happy to be in the "good" ward at the hospital with all the nurses who know her and treat her very well.

Monday, March 26, 2007

For those who are still getting my blog. I will be going into the hospital tomorrow for some test. Hopefully they will figure out what to do, surgery or what. I am taking so much medication for my pain I can hardly keep my eyes open. The pain is something I don't wish on anyone.
My life is quite boring with nothing to write except complaining about my back. I would give anything to be able to get up in the morning and do a full days work of housekeeping and cooking. I hope that will happen someday down th road.

Friday, March 16, 2007

We are back to our trips to Regina to see doctors. Allan's visit to two doctors had good results were my one visit to one doctor did not turn out so well. I knew I was having more pain and not walking as well as I thought I should be. My feelings were right. I had to have xrays done on my back awnd when I had to lay down on my back the pain was more than I could bare, that was my first break down. The doctor said things do not look goo, that was my second break down. My discs where I had the last surgery are compressed and doing more nerve damage. I have a few options and the first is a brace which I am wearing right now. I will have to go into the hospital for a couple of days to have a mri and bone scane, to see what damage there is and if there is any infection. If the brace does not work I will probably need more surgery and have all my back fused. I am on heavy medication, so do nothing but sleep all day.

Got home Thursday with no problems. We stayed one night with Ignaki and his Mom. The have a huge beautiful new home. We then spent two night in Texas, did a little shopping, visiting, picking grapefruit and then off to Sask.
Along the way in Mexico we came across booths of pottery. I bought three big vases to sit on the floor for only $30. It was all soo cheap, I could have brought a truck load home.
We had good weather all the way home except for some fog the last two days. It is better to take extra time, you don't get so tired.
I am still not unpacked and have a lot of laundry, but I will get it done slowly.
We are off to Regina to see doctors on Wed. & Thurs.
The weather is good at home but still a lot of snow.

I wasn't going to blog today but got the good news from Kim. Her little girl is beautiful, let us know when you are going to get her.
Yes it is a pretty site being dragged through the sand but I am sitting in 30 degree weather and listening to the waves and then at 4pm it is happy hour, sure is tough life.
Where the heck is Kelly, haven't heard from her for a long time.

Monday, February 12, 2007

Took Linda and Brian to the plane on Fri. went to see Nisa but she wasn´t there, very glad to get out of PV.
Our days are about the same , sit by the pool, allan drags me through the sand to the beach, have appy hour , supper, watch tv and then to bed by 9pm.

The weather in Texas better get better before we get there which will be the first week in March.

Wednesday, February 7, 2007

Went to Buceras yesterday and spent the day with Ken & Shelly Chernoff, had a nice day in the sun. Allan managed to help me pull the walker through the sand but it is the bathrooms that cause me trouble. Some you can't get the walker in and some of the toilets don't have seats so it is a long drop down. I am now being able to sleep; on both sides for a little at a time.
Today we are not doing much and tomorrow is market day, I will try it again. Will se Nisa on Friday.

Monday, February 5, 2007

Had a beautiful day in the sun yesterday (29degrees)Had a thunderstorm last night but today is clear and warm.
It sounds like Jan Betcker didn't win, she was doing so good,.

We finally got over the clouds and I hope it stays that way.
Good luck with Josh. Good to hear from you Kim.

Linda and Brian arrived on Friday. Went to wal-mart in PV and as we were standing there I looked up and there was Nisa Chernoff, we will visit them when we take Linda back to the airport. We have been just enjoying the sun and pool, which Brian got me into yesterday and it sure helps. I also walked up and down the stairs to the second floor with some help.

It takes me a while to get on the blog as everything is in spanish. We are doing well. Had cloud yesterday with a little rain but today is sunny and warm. Linda and Brian are coming on the 26th and will be staying in the apartment above us.
Now my boring news about me. Am feeling stronger everyday, have slept two night in bed and am making about one quarter of a mile of laps in our apartment each day, still using the walker.

Tuesday, January 16, 2007

It's all about happy hour...

Another nice day,a few clouds. Had another accupuncture treatment yesterday. Allan did the wash today and we have supper in the crock pot.; It is now time for happy hour.
I have this in spanish. Let me know if it goes to my blog. I am guessing on where to enter things.

Monday, January 15, 2007

Greetings, from Mexico.

We are doing fine and are enjoying the 29 and 30 degree weather. I am doing better and have had one treatment from Dr. Gerry. I get out a little but everything has stairs, am learning to master then a little. Today I think we will spend the rest of the day by the pool as John and Shirley will drop in for a beer. Hope everyone is okay, email once in a while.

Wednesday, January 10, 2007

Another quick update.

Jodi: Mom wants everyone to know "everything is fine and they are enjoying the weather." I've just updated the blog template to include their weather on the side. It will make us all so jealous!

Still having bloggy-problems...

Jodi, again: Unless Mom quickly figures out the Spanish language, she may not be blogging... well, the solution is for her to send me the blog entries and I will put them up for her. Because the computer she is trying to use keeps defaulting to Spanish. Talk about frustrating... But keep checking back, I'll make sure you all know what is going on.

Monday, January 8, 2007

Update

This is Jodi - Just heard from a neighbour of Mom and Allan's - they arrived at their condo and all is fine. Mom is just having some problems logging into the blog - hopefully she'll get that figured out soon.
